All About Diamonds...
  Men Diamond Rings

Before the turn of the century it was uncommon to see diamond wedding rings on either men or women’s fingers. Rubies were a more common choice. This is because diamonds were quite expensive.  Diamonds became more popular and affordable after huge caches of them were discovered in South Africa and Brazil and marketed as engagement rings for both sexes.

Diamond rings for both sexes became very popular during the First World War as they came to symbolize an enduring love.  Many wedded couples bought them as a symbol of eternity while they were separated by battle and hardship.

Still diamond engagement rings for men were never as popular as those for women. Mainly that might because a couple could only afford to pay off one diamond ring over a period of years.  However by the 1940s it became much more common to see a male wearing a diamond ringed band. It became a kind of status symbol that signified your wealth or status as a white collar rather than blue-collar worker. These bands tended to be pink or yellow gold in color and embedded with just a few stones.

Today the men’s diamond wedding band in both gold or silver is quite prevalent and many progressive minded brides give them to their husbands to be.  There are many different types of styles of these rings on the market. A popular style is a thinner band that is completely ringed with diamonds embedded in the band. Black diamonds are also a popular trend in men’s diamond engagement rings and wedding bands.

The reason that men’s diamond wedding rings and engagement bands tend to be simpler in design then women’s is that they tend to be treated a little more roughly due to sports and other lively activities.  The diamonds tend to be embedded right in the band to protect them from damage or falling out of their setting.  The simplest bands only have one stone set in them along with a bit of engraving on the inside or outside of the ring as necessary.  The date of the engagement or significant phrase might also be part of the design of the ring.

However if it is a fancy men’s wedding or engagement ring that you prefer there are many designers who are making them. You can now get Calvin Klein style eternity rings that are made out of three colors of gold.

Yet another very popular type of wedding or engagement ring is the ones made out of Mokume Gane metal alloys. These rings make it look like the man is making a ring made out of wood grain when actually it is made out of a combination of metals. These types of rings are also available in blues, purples, greens and reds thanks to the fact that they contain titanium. Titanium is very rugged and strong and makes a safe carrier for a diamond gem. Metal alloy diamond rings are definitely a popular choice for today’s about to be married metrosexual.
